During the course of 2015, South Africa and its ecomony were rocked by the goverments need to implement continuous load shedding at sheduled times for months on end. In light of the Sync Advertisng was breifed to come up with a awareness print campaign where by customers would not be turned away empty handed but rather given a voucher that could be redeemed with their next purchase. 

 

For this breif I worked very cosely with my Studio Manager and mentor, Krystle Kemp, where by our solution to creatively fufil the brief was to create a set of leaflets and posters.

 

The initual question we asked ourselves was; "What do you do when the lights go out?". Naturally every person has a different answer, but after a while everyone gets bored and stares at eachother waiting for the power to come bck on. Thus the idea to create origami leaflets was born. 

 

Four origami leaflet designs were created, each one having a scratch card area on the bottom of the front to reveal what you can redeem with your next purchase, this section was made so as to not interfer with the fun origami exercise on the back. These leaflets were passed out to custemer that came to the KFC during load shedding and the store was closed. Posters were also created to differenciate which stores had generators and would be operational during load shedding times and which ones would be closed.
